The Government has prioritized the development of the leather and dairy value chains as vehicles for increasing incomes to lower segments of the population through increasing productivity, value addition and marketing of hides & skins and milk. KEVEVAPI has a major role by ensuring that the animals remain healthy through production and distribution of high-quality vaccines for disease control both within the country and for Export. As aligned to its mandate and the Bottom-up Economic Transformative Agenda (BETA).
 
The Principal Secretary Hon. Jonathan Mueke, State Department for Livestock Development accompanied by KEVEVAPI Board Chairman Prof. Kimathi Mbogori, A.g. Managing Director Dr. Alex Sabuni, KEVEVAPI Management and the Technical Team from Director of Veterinary Services paid a courtesy visit to our three stations on a familiarization tour of the apex state corporation that is mandated to produce veterinary vaccines. The Principal Secretary had an opportunity to tour the Institute’s laboratories and facilities at the Foot and Mouth Disease Vaccines Headquarters Embakasi located in Nairobi South B on Off Enterprise Road, Road A, the Vaccine Production Laboratory at Kabete located within the Director of Veterinary Services ( DVS) complex and the KEVEVAPI Limuru farm located at Redhill, used for testing sero negative test animals.
